As the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis grow, more and more vulnerable individuals and the organizations that serve them are struggling to weather the storm. It’s been heartening to see the outpouring of goodwill and resources coming from home, but it’s tough to figure out how best to engage. How much should I be donating? To where? When? What is everyone else doing?

Enter YCore’s Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Challenge. For the next few months, we’re stepping up as a community to give consistently and give together.

The challenge: Commit to donating every Friday to a nonprofit or community-based organization that you care about. It’s that simple.

The nitty gritty: Once you donate, share a screenshot of your thank-you email or confirmation page with the hashtag #showyourreceipts and tag @ycorenetwork. You don’t need to include the amount — that’s less important than the fact that you’re showing up regularly.

Pick a number that you feel comfortable giving weekly (most organizations say a minimum of $10 is worth the effort of processing a donation. Definitely less than the cappuccinos you were buying before all this started 😉).

YCore will share an issue area each Monday and feature organizations doing great work in that field. We’ll be focusing specifically on organizations and issues affected by COVID-19, and we’ll be providing some context as the week goes on. You’re welcome to donate to one of our featured organizations or pick an issue/organization of your own. You can donate to the same organization every week if you want, or you can sub volunteering for a week or two if that’s available to you. Are you in?

You don’t need to sign up to participate, but you’ll get extra motivation from us (we won’t spam, promise). And if you’re not already, follow us on Instagram (@ycorenetwork), Twitter (@ycorenetwork), and Facebook (@ycorenetwork), to stay updated. Don’t forget to tag us on Friday!
